Research has shown that patients who that stay within a rehab program for over 3-4 months have better outcomes than those that stay less. Attending a drug rehabilitation program works to reduce substance intake and crimes committed by drug-dependent people. Other studies have shown that people who take the drug rehab approach are more likely to be employed.

Inpatient Drug Rehab
The goal behind Inpatient drug rehab is long-term abstinence from drugs. Individuals in inpatient drug rehab use they have learned to help them re-enter society and live responsible, diciplined and successful drug free lives. The benefit behind Inpatient drug rehab is that care is usually provided 24/7.

Outpatient Drug Rehab
Outpatient drug rehab is long term and uses techniques that include a wide range of approaches including specialized therapies such as insight-oriented psychotherapy, problem-solving groups, cognitive-behavioral therapy and 12-step programs. Individuals that attend an outpatient drug rehab programs do not reside at the drug rehab as they would an inpatient drug rehab.
